Abril de Sarah Teasdale version de Pablo Queralt.

Abril

Los tejados brillan bajo la lluvia.

Los gorriones pian al volar,

y con la gracia ventosa de Abril

pasan las nubes ligeras.

Pero los patios traseros están húmedos y marrones

con un único árbol inmutable;

no podría estar tan seguro de la primavera

si no fuera porque ella canta en mí.

Villancico de navidad

llegaron los reyes desde el sur,

vestidos de fino armiño;

le trajeron oro y crisoprasa,

y regalos de vino preciado.

Los pastores llegaron desde el norte,

con sus viejas capas pardas,

le trajeron corderillos recién nacidos-

no tenían oro alguno.

Los sabios llegaron desde el Oriente,

envueltos en blanco;

la estrella que los guio

llenó de gloria la noche.

Bajaron ángeles del alto cielo,

vestidos de alas resplandecientes;

y trajeron un canto de júbilo

que canta la hueste celestial.

Los reyes llamaron a la puerta,

los sabios entraron,

y los pastores lo siguieron

para escuchar el canto comenzar.

Los ángeles cantaron toda la noche

hasta que salió el sol,

pero el niño Jesús se quedó dormido

antes de que terminará la canción.

Nunca supiste? Nunca supiste?

Hace tanto tiempo, cuanto me amabas?

April

The roofs are shining from the rain.
The sparrows tritter as they fly,
And with a windy April grace
The little clouds go by.

Yet the back-yards are bare and brown
With only one unchanging tree--
I could not be so sure of Spring
Save that it sings in me.

Christmas Carol

The kings they came from out the south,
All dressed in ermine fine;
They bore Him gold and chrysoprase,
And gifts of precious wine.

The shepherds came from out the north,
Their coats were brown and old;
They brought Him little new-born lambs--
They had not any gold.

The wise men came from out the east,
And they were wrapped in white;
The star that led them all the way
Did glorify the night.

The angels came from heaven high,
And they were clad with wings;
And lo, they brought a joyful song
The host of heaven sings.

The kings they knocked upon the door,
The wise men entered in,
The shepherds followed after them
To hear the song begin.

The angels sang through all the night
Until the rising sun,
But little Jesus fell asleep
Before the song was done.

Did you never know

Did you never know, long ago, how much you loved me—
That your love would never lessen and never go?
You were young then, proud and fresh-hearted,
You were too young to know.

Fate is a wind, and red leaves fly before it
Far apart, far away in the gusty time of year—
Seldom we meet now, but when I hear you speaking,
I know your secret, my dear, my dear.
